"For this year’s eagerly anticipated Art Toronto, superkül has partnered with the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) to create a lounge space in the SOLO section of this international art fair. The installation offers a glimpse of what MOCA’s future home on Sterling Road will look like when it opens in spring 2018: specifically, superkül’s seating structure responds to the mushroom column heads found in the Tower Automotive Building, designed by architect J.W. Schreiber. Erected in 1919, the building continues to be an important early example of flat-slab concrete construction. In the MOCA Lounge, the installation acts as a prototype for a circular seating composition that tests form, scale, user-friendliness and flexibility. A key element of the finish and surface detailing will be inspired by material textures found inside the heritage building."

The Westmoreland Bookshelves were built in a beautiful church conversion in downtown Toronto. They are 12' high and 10' wide. The wood used for the shelves was salvaged from the renovation of the church. Each gable is made from hot-rolled steel and is fitted with it's own strip of dimable LED lighting. The sliding ladder is custom made from white oak.
